Kerry Washington To Star In ‘The Simpsons’ As Bart’s New Permanent Teacher: ‘Ms. Peyton Handles Bart Simpson’

Actress, director and producer Kerry Washington is set to debut as Bart’s new schoolteacher on “The Simpsons.”

Back in 2013, Marcia Wallace, the voice actress who played Bart’s teacher Ms. Krabappel, passed away. Afterward, her character on the show was filled in by guest teachers. Some of the celebs who have showed up as a substitute teacher were Sofia Vergara, who played Carol Berrera and Willem Defoe, who played Jack Lassen.

Now, the teacher’s will be completely replaced by Washington, who will make her character debut as Rayshelle Peyton. Washington celebrated her character in a Twitter post saying, “Ms. Peyton handles Bart Simpson. Sunday!!!!!! Can’t wait!” Mrs. Peyton will make her debut in the episode “My Octopus And A Teacher” this Sunday.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Washington said Mrs. Peyton will be “very thoughtful.”

“She’s a great teacher,” said the star. “But like all the best teachers, she knows that her students have just as much to teach her as she has to teach them. And teaching Bart is a job filled with growth opportunities.”
