Actor Kevin Costner is accusing his estranged wife of wanting a child support increase to cover her plastic surgery costs.
Christine Baumgartner is reportedly asking for $248,000 a month for their children Cayden Wyatt, 16, Hayes Logan, 14, and Grace Avery, 13. However, Costner says the handbag designer doesn’t need such a large sum for their children. Instead, he believes she is looking for compensation for her $100,000 worth of regular cosmetic surgery procedures.
In addition to her beauty routines, Costner claims she is also looking for more money to spend on her expensive shopping habit, attorney fees, and loans, all of which are costs that do not benefit the children, the star said in newly filed court documents. Instead of the new amount his ex is seeking for the child support, he thinks that the $51,940 a month of support he’s been paying is plenty of money to support the couple’s three kids.
Baumgartner fired back, alleging that Costner tried to give her $1 million in an effort to force her to surrender the spousal support agreement he currently pays her. She did not accept the payment and instead had her financial advisor send the funds back to Costner. In addition to child support and alimony, the divorce continues to get nastier in terms of who lives in their familiar home. As part of their prenup, Baumgartner was supposed to vacate the house during their divorce. However, earlier this month, she refused to leave the Santa Barbara residence despite Costner being ordered to establish a new home for at least $1.2 million for her and the children. This has caused a new area of friction in the already bitter battle.
The two married in September 2004. Baumgartner filed for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences.
