Kevin Durant Charity Foundation & Kind Healthy Snacks Present “A Strong & Kind Summer with KD”

Kevin Durant and the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (KDCF), in partnership with KIND Healthy Snacks (KIND), today unveil “A STRONG & KIND Summer with KD” to help at-risk youth understand how strength and kindness can coexist in their lives. Together they will distribute up to 35 grants to organizations committed to teaching kids how it’s strong to be kind through specialized summer programming. The initiative is inspired by both the STRONG & KIND Movement, which aims to reverse misconceptions about strength and kindness, and Durant’s own experiences at camp.  

Organizations interested in applying for a grant can visit www.kevindurant.com now through July 7 to share their ideas on how to bring the STRONG & KIND message to life. Grants will be distributed on a rolling basis in increments of $10,000. As the grant money comes from a portion of the $1 million donation KIND made to the KDCF earlier this year, applicants are asked to specifically demonstrate how their programming reinforces the tenets of the STRONG & KIND pledge:

• Having the courage to be kind when others may not
• Looking out for those who can’t look out for themselves
• Standing up when others would rather stand out
• Leaving your world a kinder place than you found it

“I am excited to partner with KIND and introduce kids to a “STRONG and KIND Summer,” Durant said. “I’ve always supported specialized programs dedicated to teaching young people how to be strong and kind in their communities and this program does exactly that.”

Registered public charities running a 2014 summer program (June – August) that directly serves foster youths and/or youths facing homelessness in one of the following states or regions may meet the eligibility requirements necessary for grant consideration: District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Chicago and Los Angeles.
