The sports world has been immersed in gambling for the last two years. Major sports media giants such as ESPN, Fox Sports, and Paramount have recognized the value of aligning themselves with fan engagement and the motivation it provides to fans participating in daily sports gambling. This involvement extends to various formats, whether it’s wagering on entire games or making predictions on individual player performances, known as player props.
To clarify, a player prop involves predicting specific statistics like points or rebounds for a player in a given game. For instance, someone can bet on a player like Kevin Durant to go over 24.5 points. If he scores more than 24, you win. If he does not, you lose. There have been people who have made thousands, even millions of dollars, by successfully navigating the realm of player props.
One thing that has become annoying for players and coaches is the fixation over gambling within the sport they put their heart, blood, sweat, and tears into that is minimized to just a fan winning or losing money. Malik Monk went viral for tweeting that he does not care if he wins or loses fans money.
Fans joked that people barely bet on a player prop that Monk would be associated with, but all it takes is one mistake and your prop parlay can be done. Kevin Durant took to Twitter Monday to also give his point of view on the situation. Check out the hilarious interaction between Durant and a fan below on X, formerly known as Twitter.
When I get ya paid, u don’t DM me and send a small percentage to my cashapp but when them parlays don’t hit, I’m every name in the book. Yall ain’t real
