Kevin Hart will be collaborating with CJ Entertainment and Universal for a new dramedy film remake. ⠀⠀
“Bye, Bye, Bye” is Hart’s new upcoming female-led dramedy that was remade from the 2011 Korean hit titled “Sunny.” The project will tell the story of a group of friends who reunite 20 years after high school. The film takes a different path from its originator which portrayed the story of friends who came together after one of them was diagnosed with cancer. “Sunny” is one of Korea’s highest-grossing films.
Hart’s movie will be written by writer-producer #AmyAniobi from HBO’s hit series “Insecure.” “Amy is an incredible writer who has put a fun spin on the classic mother-daughter story that will make you want to laugh and cry,” Hart said Wednesday in a statement. “We are so thrilled to work with her, Universal and CJ Entertainment on Bye Bye Bye. Universal continues to be a fantastic partner, and CJ Entertainment is the premiere media company in South Korea. Plus, they’ve promised to help me achieve my life-long dream of becoming a K-pop star.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be produced by Hart and HartBeat president, John Cheng. CJ’s vice president of global co-productions and head of U.S. production Francis Chung will produce for his respective banner. Jerry Ko, head of international at CJ, will executive produce. Hartbeat productions and Universal executives will oversee the project.
