Frankie Lons, Keyshia Cole’s biological mother, reportedly passed away on Sunday, which was her 61st birthday.
The news surfaced Monday morning when Keyshia’s sister Elite Noel took to Instagram to confirm the news with followers. She took to her InstaStories to write, “Worse pain ever….to see my mama in a body bag on her birthday! My heart so f–kin broke.”
Elite’s announcement was followed by posts and tributes by other family members.
Keyshia’s brother, Sam, also confirmed the news with TMZ, sharing that Frankie was celebrating her birthday in her Oakland home Sunday where she relapsed and overdosed. However, an official cause of death has not been confirmed.
Just last March, Keyshia shared with fans that Frankie, who struggled with addiction off and on, hit a huge benchmark by reaching 60 days of sobriety. Fans remember Frankie’s vibrant personality from the BET reality series, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, which well-documented their relationship.
We send our deepest condolences to all that love and knew Frankie.
