Khalid Says He Was “Hurt” After His Ex Publicly Outed Him: “This Is Very Bothering” [Video]

Singer Khalid has come out once again to address the recent controversy surrounding his sexuality. The situation unfolded last week when Khalid’s ex-boyfriend, Hugo Almonte, alleged that the singer attempted to “use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship.” To add fuel to the fire, in a now-viral post, Almonte claimed that “one of your favorite gay R&B singers” attempted to give him pink cocaine during their relationship and stated that Khalid accused him of breaking into his house.

Shortly after, Khalid took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to touch on the incident, confirming his sexuality after Almonte posted pictures of them together. “There y’all go. next topic please lol… I got outted and the world still continues to turn,” he wrote. “I am not ashamed of my sexuality!”

Now, on Monday, Khalid is addressing the situation and adding more context to the matter. In a heartfelt video shared to his social media accounts, the Grammy-nominated artist expressed his frustrations over the exposure and the backlash he has faced.

“All of this is definitely frustrating. I’m not gonna run around like I’m unbothered. I never said I was unbothered by anything. This is very bothering. … I had to say something,” Khalid said. “Seeing the few comments of people painting me as if I’m just some manipulative abuser, it’s just crazy to me regarding the stories of the abuse…It’s triggering. It’s triggering because it’s the other way around, and that’s what hurts.”

Additionally, Khalid clarified that he has “never done cocaine” and only spoke on the break-in to his close friends.

“I’ve never accused anybody publicly of breaking into my house, and the only people who even know about a breaking are my close circle. Nobody knew because I don’t want everybody in my business,” he added.

Nonetheless, the “Location” singer rounded out the video explaining that he didn’t understand where the allegations were stemming from since he hadn’t spoken to Almonte after ending their relationship “four or five years ago.”
