Kid Capri shares his cancer diagnosis but reveals that he has since beat the disease.
On Saturday, the iconic Hip-Hop artist posted a picture to Instagram from his visit to the doctor’s office, unveiling that he has been battling cancer for the past year. However, in his caption, he conveyed that the struggle has concluded, at least temporarily.
During this period, Capri disclosed that he underwent two surgeries but intentionally kept his health ordeal private to avoid diverting attention from the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.
“God is great!!” he wrote. “3 days ago, I found out that I’m cancer free! Been dealing with it all year while I was doing everything I was doing for hip hop 50! I had 2 surgeries and never said anything publicly about what I was going through, I’m not an attention whore, so I didn’t want to say anything, so that it didn’t look like i wanted pity, but now that it’s over, I figure I let my fans and friends know, I’m very happy, this year I did a lot, but come 2024, I’m getting even crazier than I did in 2023!! Thank you God!”
Despite Capri being in a life-threatening battle, his fans remained unaware. In November, Capri joined numerous other Hip-Hop legends for the first-ever Hip-Hop Cruise hosted by Rock The Bells. In August, he, along with LL COOL J, Queen Latifah, De La Soul, and other cultural pillars, took part in the second annual Rock The Bells Festival. Additionally, he maintained a busy schedule, performing solo shows, producing music for fellow artists, and hitting the road. The previous year, he marked his return with his first solo album, “The Love,” in almost three decades.
