The 3-month-old Northern California baby kidnapped from his grandmother’s home has been found alive and safe.
San Jose police officers announced that they’d found 3-month-old Brandon Cuellar, who was kidnapped from his family’s home on Monday. “Baby Brandon has been located. He will be taken to a local hospital for an evaluation,” said the San Jose police on Twitter.
Baby Brandon was stolen from his family’s home on Elm Street a little after 1 p.m. Brandon’s grandmother was watching him while his mother was at work. While in her care, the grandmother took Brandon with her on a trip to the grocery store. When she returned home, she placed Brandon down inside the apartment to get the remaining groceries. Suddenly, only about two minutes after leaving Brandon’s sight, a stranger came and took the child.
“In that short amount of time, someone entered the apartment” and left with the child, said Sgt. Christian Camarillo. Video footage shows the man carrying Brandon in his baby carrier with a white blanket over him. NBC News reports there are no details on whether the man brought the carrier or belonged to the family. The family says they don’t recognize the kidnapper.
After sending out a missing person alert, police went door-to-door in hopes of finding answers. There are now three suspects in custody.
“We have some of the finest detectives in the nation. Nobody went home yesterday. In less than 24 hours he was located, and three suspects are being held,” San Jose police said Tuesday, NBC News reports. “Thank you FBI. We appreciate all the help.”
