Kim Kardashian Accused of Wearing Blackface In New Magazine Cover Shoot

Kim Kardashian West’s latest magazine cover is once again creating controversy.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star posed in vintage Thierry Mugler to supposedly channel Elizabeth Taylor for a classic old Hollywood themed shoot, but some fans felt she looked more like Beyoncé.

The 39-Year-old mogul and mother of four received immediate criticism after posting the Winter 2020 cover of the fashion mag to her Instagram, with several followers saying that her tan and/or makeup looked far too dark, leading most commenters to argue that it was bordering on blackface; A claim the reality star and her sisters have been accused of many times.

One commenter wrote: “She look black in that 2nd photo … hmmm, here she go again.”

The sentiments were the same on the magazine’s Instagram: “Was the point to make her appear more ethnic,” someone wrote. “What’s with the darkening [of] her skin color? She, in no way, is that complexion naturally. Unacceptable.”

But sources close to Kim Kardashian West revealed to Page Six that it was the lighting at the 7Hollywood magazine photoshoot that made her look darker.

“It’s the lighting that makes her look darker in this specific image,” the source who was on set for the shoot said. “There are multiple covers and images from this shoot where the lighting looks more natural. People are so quick to find the negative in everything and also often forget that she is of Armenian descent.”

Kim, herself -has yet to make any public comment on the current backlash. As of this morning, the post is still available on her IG page, where fans and critics continue to leave comments expressing their dismay.
