Kim Kardashian-West is on another case! This time, Kim and her husband Kanye West are reportedly in communication with Donald Trump and White House officials to help expedite rapper ASAP Rocky’s release from a Swedish jail.
According to TMZ, Kanye approached Kim with the back story on Rocky’s situation and encouraged her to reach out to the White House for help. Sources say Kim called Trump’s senior advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who then spoke to Trump about Rocky’s situation in Sweden.
Surprisingly, sources say the president does believe Rocky has been treated unfairly and is offering his assistance to get him released. Although having support from Trump would make somewhat of a difference in Rocky’s case, Swedish officials are reportedly not backing down despite the overwhelming support for the Harlem rapper. Sources believe Sweden’s government may even delay their decision on Rocky’s case, thus resulting in more jail time for the rapper.
News of Kanye and Kim’s efforts to #FreeASAPRocky come one day after the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus held a press conference where they urged Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to free Rocky from jail.
Complex reports that Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Carl Risch is expected to be in Sweden for Rocky’s hearing Friday.
