Tuesday night in Miami, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West gathered to honor their longtime friend and late designer Virgil Abloh.
The two were spotted with their daughter North in the front row of the Louis Vuitton menswear presentation.
According to PEOPLE, Kim shared a few pictures of Abloh’s sand sculpture and a massive red Louis Vuitton-branded hot air balloon on her Instagram Story before the presentation began.
This is the first time seeing Kim and Kanye publicly together since Kim started dating ‘Saturday Night Live‘ comedian Pete Davidson.
Abloh’s final menswear presentation in Miami, according to Louis Vuitton, paid “tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius.”
Abloh, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton and the founder of Off-White, died at the age of 41 following a two-year struggle with cardiac angiosarcoma.
In a statement posted to Abloh’s Instagram page by his family, they revealed he underwent “numerous challenging treatments” all while continuing his work in fashion and art. “Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design.”
After Abloh’s death, Kim wrote an emotional tribute for him on Instagram. “God doesn’t make mistakes. I know that but I still can’t help but ask why. Why Virgil?! Why him so soon? it’s simply hard to understand why. I have a hard time understanding why so many pure souls were taken away so early,” she said.
