Kim Kardashian sat down with David Letterman for an interview where she spoke about everything from her sex tape, to the OJ trial, to Caitlyn’s transition.
In the emotional interview Kim K said she was “so upset” after her sex tape with Ray J leaked, but said she had her family to get through it.
“That meant everything to me,” she said. “When we had our first big, public scandal, that is how we always got through things, is with each other. I have my family, that’s all that matters.” She went on to say how much Keeping Up With The Kardashians has changed her life, and admitted that she makes more money from Instagram than an entire season of the show.
And speaking of family, Kim said that the OJ Simpson trial “tore our family apart” after her father Robert Kardashian was OJ’s lawyer and best friend, and mom Kris was best friends with Nicole Brown Simpson, who OJ was accused of killing.
Kim said she remembered sitting behind OJ at the trial, and her mom giving her and Kourtney the “death stare”. “Kourtney and I were like, ‘Just look straight, do not look at mom,'” she recalled.
Kris and Robert eventually separated and she married Bruce Jenner, who later transitioned to Caitlyn Jenner.
Kim spoke about walking into the garage when she was 26 and seeing Caitlyn dressed in women’s clothing.
Kim said that Caitlyn called her right after and said, “Whenever you’re ready, I’d love to sit you down and talk to you. But, in the meantime, don’t tell a soul. Your mom has no idea and she will kill me.”
Four years later, Caitlyn spoke to Kim and said, “I felt these feelings as a kid, from four years old.”
She went on to talk about following in her father’s footsteps and practicing law. She’s currently studying to be a lawyer.
Kim, who worked with Donald Trump to free Alice Johnson, said she gives the administration credit for what “they’ve done in prison reform”.
But she admitted she was hesitant to get involved with Trump. She told Letterman, “Everyone called me and said, ‘Don’t you dare step foot in that White House or your reputation is done.’ And I said, ‘I have to step foot in there or these people’s lives don’t have a chance.'”
In the interview, Kim also spoke about the 2016 robbery in Paris where she was held at gunpoint.
“They had been following me for two years leading up until this moment,” she said. “I didn’t know that they had someone at the elevators, someone at the front, someone that moved the camera, someone that broke the door, someone in the getaway car. There was a whole team of people that had planned this.
“Then they said they saw on social media that I had this huge new ring.”
