Kim Kardashian “did not damage” Marilyn Monroe‘s dress, says Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!
We’re still talking about Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress to this year’s Met Gala. The latest in the story is that the worries about Kardashian allegedly ruining the dress after wearing it aren’t true, according to Ripley’s.
Over the past couple of weeks, Kardashian has been facing backlash over the decision to allow Kardashian to wear the legendary gown that Monroe wore as she sang Happy Birthday in 1962 to then-president John F. Kennedy. After her debut in the dress, reports of gems falling off the dress started to emerge only.
But Ripley’s, which loaned the socialite the dress, says the rumors aren’t true at all. On Thursday, the museum released a statement saying Kardashian “did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala.”
Ripley’s VP of publishing and licensing also said the dress was returned in the same way it was given to Kardashian, adding that the dress was somewhat damaged when the company bought it in a 2016 auction.
