Kim Kardashian’s effort to support C-Murder’s release has upset the alleged victim’s family, as it brought back painful memories through her advocacy.
According to TMZ, George Thomas, brother of the slain Steve Thomas, said when celebrities like Kim get involved, it stops them from mourning their brother’s death, who was 16 at the time.
George believes strong evidence implicates C-Murder, and only celebrities, not the public, are pushing for his release.
Last week, Kim endorsed a new Louisiana law that lets prisoners prove their innocence. She sees it as a potential way for C-Murder to be released, noting that his conviction hinged on the now-retracted testimonies of two men.
While George supports Kim using her influence to aid innocent individuals, he emphasizes that C-Murder doesn’t fit that category. C-Murder’s conviction was upheld in 2011, and he took his appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, but they declined to review the case.
In 2009, C-Murder was sentenced to life in prison for the second-degree murder of Steve Thomas.
