Last Wednesday it was reported that Chicago rapper, King Louie, was shot 7 times outside a friend’s house. Less than a week later he appeared on CNN to talk about the incident.Â
King Louie sat down with CNN’s Don Lemon to discuss the epidemic of violence in Chicago and how he plans to stop it.Â
King Louie says that he was in a car, leaving his friend’s house, when someone pulled up and shot at his car 22 times. Louie says he was shot 7 times and still has 3 slugs inside of him, 2 in his chest and one in his head. When asked what is going on in Chicago Louie responds, “The devil is working overtime.”
King Louie also discussed his involvement with the “Put The Guns Down” campaign in Chicago. “I think there’s hope for Chicago, and like I say, Prayer. I don’t think I’d be here today if it wasn’t for prayer. I say we just have to be strong and pray for our city. The right people just have to do the right things.”Â
King Louie is well known in Chicago’s “drill music” scene, as well as is instrumental in the coining of the term “Chiraq.” He did, however team up with “Put The Guns Down” and rappers Common and Lil Herb to do a music video.
