Gospel singer Kirk Franklin has mended his broken relationship with his biological father after learning his dad only has about three to six months to live.
Just six months is all medical officials are saying Franklin’s biological father may have to live. After years of not speaking, Franklin, 48, made it his mission to visit his father in Houston this past weekend.
Franklin resented his father for giving him up for adoption when he was a child, but when he got a call about his father’s health two days prior, he chose forgiveness over anger. Franklin took to Instagram and shared an intimate photo of him and his father. In the caption, he wrote, “He deserves to receive what God gives me every day. Pray for him, and for me. God this is hard. I weep as I write.”
The 48-year-old singer then mentioned his confusion after being put up for adoption, saying his father “left [him] never feeling good enough.” Franklin wanted to make sure they had the chance to talk before it was too late.
“It’s painful, it’s a process, but how disappointed I would be in myself for this man to leave this earth without being forgiven,” said Franklin.
