Klay Thompson Diagnosed With “Concussion-Like Symptoms”; Will Have To Pass NBA Protocol for Finals -blogged by @Lexxthatsall

Golden State’s Klay Thompson, has been diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms after the Warriors Western Conference Finals win on Wednesday night. The injury was sustained with under 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter, when Thompson pump faked a shot leading Houston’s Trevor Ariza to buy into it and foul. Unfortunately during the play, Ariza’s knee made contact with the side of Thompson’s head sending him to the ground in evident pain. After being down for a few minutes Thompson was able to walk to the back where he initially passed an evaluation. However upon his return, Thompson began bleeding from his right ear due to what was later determined as an ear laceration and received 3 stitches before returning to the court. Though not initially diagnosed with a concussion, during a post-game interview Thompson did state that he was “dizzy.”

Thursday Morning, Klay’s father and former NBA player, Mychal Thompson, further explained Klay’s status to ESPN’s Mike and Mike. Thompson stated that his son was unable to drive himself home after the game and that he vomited multiple times. He did say that Klay felt “a lot better” afterwards and that he felt like he just needed a few days to relax.

Thankfully the NBA Finals are not set to start until Thursday, June 4th. The team plans to continue to evaluate Thompson and he will now have to pass the NBA’s concussion protocol before he’s eligible to play. Wishing a speedy recovery to Klay!
