Recently retired Laker legend, Kobe Bryant, made his first televised post-retirement interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday.
Still all smiles following his insane record breaking final game performance earlier this month, Bryant chats with Ellen about his family, Shaq, his dancing and his final moments as a Laker.
“I couldn’t believe that it actually happened, that this moment was actually here, that this was the game,” he said reflecting on his 60-point final game. “When I walked in the arena and you can kind of feel the electricity, you just kind of start getting nostalgic. Then you realize everybody is here to watch this final game – don’t suck,” he explained to Ellen.
Bryant revealed even his daughters were impressed by his performance, which he had to remind them, “I used to be pretty good back in the day.”
After entering the league straight out of high school and spending 20 years in purple and gold, Bryant is enjoying retirement. When asked if the superstar had any regrets about his retirement and if whether or not it was the right time to end his career, he responded, “It feels right to me. I’m very blessed to say ‘I just don’t want to play anymore,’ its not like my body forced me out.”
It will be interesting to see where retirement takes Kobe Bryant. Watch the full interview below.
