The family of basketball legend Kobe Bryant wants the trademarks for “Mamba” and Mambacita,” with the intention of using them for merchandise like clothing and shoes, according to the application filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
The application was filed by an attorney for Kobe Bryant LLC on March 10, 2021, noting that the trademark would be used for clothing, namely shirts, skirts, pants, shorts, bottoms, socks, dresses, jackets, hoodies, etc.
The application also included workout clothing such as sweatbands, armbands, and footwear, which means a clothing line could be in the works.
Or the trademark application could be the Bryant Family’s way of locking down the trademark so that no one else can use the names for their own purposes.
Kobe’s estate has filed for several trademarks since the legend’s tragic death, including “Mamba Sports Academy,” “Mambacita,” “Lady Mambas,” “Lil Mambas” and more.
