Kodak Black appeared in a South Carolina court Wednesday afternoon on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl after a concert in 2016.

The rapper pled guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree assault and battery and was sentenced to 18 months probation as part of a negotiated plea. He was originally indicted on a charge of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and faced up to 30 years in prison; however, the victim agreed to all conditions of the plea deal, according to 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.

As part of the agreement, the rapper was also required to take full accountability and apologized to the victim, which he did in court.

“I apologize to Miss [victim’s name] and am hopeful we can all move forward,” said Kodak. “I wish her the best in her life.”

The rapper is also required to go through counseling.

In 2016, Kodak was accused of sexually assaulting the girl at a Comfort Inn and Suites in Florence County, SC. He was released from the Florence County Detention Center in December of 2016 on a $100,000 bond.
