Tuesday, Kodak Black appeared in court after an arrest warrant was issued over the weekend after he allegedly violated the conditions of his pre-trial release.
A court affidavit said the rapper failed to submit to random drug and alcohol screening on Feb. 3, and when he submitted the sample on Feb. 8, it showed a positive result for Fentanyl. During Tuesday’s court appearance, the “Super Gremlin” rapper’s attorney Bradford Cohen argued that a star-struck employee may have mixed up the rapper’s urine sample and paperwork with another patient’s, citing that Yak has never tested positive for Fentanyl in the past and has also received treatment for addiction to other substances, Local 10 reports.
The employee who took the sample also testified in court Tuesday, telling the judge that there could have been a mix-up.
Local 10 reported that the judge advised that a hair sample could have been taken Tuesday to determine whether Kodak Black had drugs in his system but he refused. The rapper was subsequently ordered to enter a rehabilitation facility for 30 days as part of his pre-trial release.
However, Yak’s attorney denied that his client refused a hair sample, calling out the local ABC affiliate station, saying they “got it wrong.”
“Pretrial does not provide Hair sample services,” Cohen wrote on Instagram.
“I am glad @kodakblack will get an opportunity to take a break from his hectic schedule and focus on his physical health. Great kid, great philanthropist and as usual a portion of his Rolling Loud pay check will go to the Meadow Pollack scholarship fund at Nova Southeastern Law School, that he set up last year. @local10news You often see news reports that aren’t accurate because they want those subscribers, and won’t report on the good in the community and the good Kodak does there as well. Doesn’t make for a good story,” he continued.
Kodak is set to check in to rehab on March 7 following his performance at this weekend’s Rolling Loud festival in California.
As previously reported, Kodak was arrested last July after officers discovered 30 Oxycodone pills and around $75,000 in his car during a traffic stop. He’s currently out on bond.
