Kraft Heinz is recalling batches of Kool-Aid mix “due to the potential presence of foreign material, specifically very tiny pieces of metal or glass.”
Costco alerted customers who appear to have purchased canisters of 82.5oz Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix with “Best When Used By” dates of Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Another notification published by Stater Bros, a grocery store chain in Southern California, claimed that the metal and glass fragments may have been mistakenly introduced into the product during the manufacturing process.
“The company discovered the issue during an internal review at the manufacturing facility,” Stater Bros said.
“There have been no consumer complaints and no reports of illness or injury related to this issue to date.”
Customers may check the best-by date on the bottom of the punch mix container, according to the Costco advisory.
Customers were urged not to use the recalled product and to return it to their local Costco for a full refund.
Kraft Heinz said in the alert issued by Costco, “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
