Fans and the NFL community are on edge after news broke that Kris Boyd, the New York Jets’ cornerback, was critically injured in a shooting in New York City.
The 29-year-old was shot outside Sei Less NYC, a fine dining restaurant in Manhattan, during the early morning hours of Sunday.
According to a New York Police Department spokesperson, officers responded to a 911 call reporting “a male shot in front of 156 West 38th Street” at approximately 2:09 a.m. When police arrived, they found Boyd with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was immediately transported to Bellevue Hospital and remains in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
Boyd’s football career began with the Texas Longhorns, where he played from 2015 to 2018 before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. After several seasons in Minnesota, he signed with the New York Jets in 2025, bringing his skills to one of the league’s most high-profile teams.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the NFL and Jets fanbase, with many expressing concern for Boyd’s recovery and well-being.
A spokesperson for the New York Jets said, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
