Kyle Chrisley, son of Todd Chrisley, found himself in legal trouble this week after being arrested in Tennessee for assault.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the 33-year-old was “charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest” on Monday, September 9th. After posting a $6,500 bond, Kyle was released, with a court hearing scheduled for December.
Kyle took to Instagram to challenge the charges, posting photos of his arrest and claiming he was the true victim in the situation. In a lengthy statement, Kyle explained that a man, whom he did not identify, had been harassing his family for months. The situation escalated when the man showed up at Kyle’s home, where Kyle says he had to defend himself but ended up being the one apprehended.
“So let me get this straight. A man who has been threatening me for MONTHS, trying to extort money out of me, saying he will destroy me if I don’t pay, has made threats to MY CHILD, my wife, told me he will destroy my truck, COMES TO MY HOUSE putting hands on ME, trying to extort money out of me, threatening me, I’m not allowed to defend myself and my property?” Kyle’s post read.
He further claimed that the same individual rammed his wife’s car while shouting, “I’ll be back I got you.” When the man returned, Kyle says the aggressor threatened to kill him and run him over. According to Kyle, his wife Ashleigh frantically called the police, pleading for help.
“So he leaves and you FINALLY show up and arrest me for AGGRAVATED ASSAULT because his story is that I cut him????” Kyle wrote. “And then charge me with resisting arrest because I’m trying to ask you why I’m being arrested and he’s not????? And you tell my wife this is private property so you don’t know who’s at fault for her car being rammed into????? Please make it make sense Rutherford County!!!!”
This is not the first time Kyle has faced legal troubles. In March 2023, he was arrested for felony aggravated assault after allegedly threatening to harm his boss during a workplace argument over a $36 paycheck discrepancy. His supervisor claimed that two other men had to restrain Kyle during the incident until police arrived.
However, in April, the Smyrna Court Clerk’s Office disclosed that prosecutors had dismissed the charges before the case went to trial, though no reason was provided for the abrupt closure.
His father, reality TV star Todd Chrisley, and wife Julie remain in prison after their tax fraud convictions. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, with Julie receiving seven, though her conviction was recently vacated. Her release date is now scheduled for the fall of 2025.
