NBA player Kyle Lowry is proving to the world that he is more than just a basketball player as the National Ballet of Canada has announced the star will join their production of ‘The Nutcracker’ as a cannon doll. The performance will take place on Dec. 19, at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts in Toronto.
During his performance, Lowry will shoot a cannon into the crowd, during the opening act while dressed up as a “colorfully costumed Russian Petrouchka doll,” according to reports.
In a press release, the National Ballet explains that celebrity walk-on roles are a longstanding tradition for productions of ‘The Nutcracker’ around the world. Just last year, Toronto Maple Leafs stars Auston Matthews, and Mitch Marner participated in the production.
‘The Nutcracker’ performances will begin Dec. 11 and run through Jan. 4 with other celebrity walk-ons during each performance, including singer Tyler Shaw, and TV personalities Mike Holmes Jr. and Marie Holmes, to name a few.
It’s been a big year for Lowry, who is a guard for the Raptors, as the five-time All-Star scored 26 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in the fight to help his team beat the Golden State Warriors during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. This became the Toronto Raptors’ first championship in the franchise’s history.
