A local farmers market in Los Angeles was packed Sunday despite the social distancing rules put in place, and now, locals are calling for it to be shut down.
People in LA, including Katherine Schwarzenegger, are wondering why a Brentwood farmers market is still up and running in the middle of a global coronavirus pandemic.
The former Governator’s daughter responded to LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s message to citizens Sunday on Twitter regarding social distancing.
“The farmers market in Brentwood still being open seems like a huge issue when it comes to social gatherings ??,” she wrote in response to Garcetti’s tweet.
Photos from Sunday looked like business as usual for the farmers market as people were seen shopping much closer than 6ft apart.
Meanwhile, others in LA are claiming they were threatened with a $400 fine for being out and about. Still, cops tell TMZ they’ll be educating and informing the public about social distancing instead of issuing tickets.
However, it is still a misdemeanor, punishable by fine or imprisonment, to violate the social distancing rules.
