With the help of TikTok, people from all across the world were feeling the “health” bug.

When life started to feel normal again, many believed working out in packs was a cheap alternative to safely hitting your daily fitness goal. Also, in a time when people are feeling lonelier than ever, these clubs are a nice option for meeting new people through real-life interactions who share the same interests as you. For example, many people are relocating to different cities for work. Most of the time, these individuals start with a clean slate without a familiar face anywhere in sight. Running clubs creates that space for someone to sustain connections, no matter your pace.

But there’s one unspoken pro to joining a running club. While meeting new people may land you some friends, it can also introduce you to new love interests. According to reports, dating apps are recently experienced a decline as people are choosing not to sign up for “digital blind dating.” Researchers stated that U.S. residents downloaded dating apps approximately 36 million times, a 16% decrease from 2020 records. Additionally, Match Group, the parent company for Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, and Match.com, also reported that the company had a decline in its paid subscribers in its 2023 financial results.
