HP Hood LLC, the parent company of Lactaid, has issued a voluntary recall of its lactose-free milk after discovering potential trace amounts of almonds in several 96-ounce products. The recall affects five different Lactaid SKUs, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday.

The recall was initiated after routine maintenance revealed the possibility of almond contamination, which is not listed on the product label. Almonds are a tree nut, one of the most common food allergens, and can cause severe reactions in those with tree nut allergies, including life-threatening anaphylaxis.

The affected Lactaid products include:

  • 96-ounce Lactaid Whole Milk
  • 96-ounce Lactaid 2% Milk
  • 96-ounce Lactaid 1% Milk
  • 96-ounce Lactaid Fat Free Milk
  • 96-ounce 2% Calcium Enriched Milk

The recall impacts consumers in several states, including New York, Texas, California, and Florida, among others. So far, no illnesses have been reported.

Best By Dates of Recalled Lactaid Milk:

  • Whole Milk: Nov. 22 – Dec. 04, 2024
  • 2% Milk: Nov. 23 – Dec. 04, 2024
  • 1% Milk: Nov. 24 – Dec. 05, 2024
  • Fat-Free Milk: Nov. 24 – Nov. 25, 2024
  • 2% Calcium Enriched Milk: Dec. 01, 2024

If you have purchased any of the recalled products, return them to the store for a refund or exchange. For more information, you can contact Hood Consumer Affairs at 800-242-2423 during business hours.

Tree nut allergies can cause symptoms ranging from abdominal pain and nausea to anaphylaxis. If you or someone in your household has a tree nut allergy, avoid consuming the recalled products.
