Anthony Davis is on his way to Los Angeles after the Lakers shook up the NBA in a trade for the former Pelicans superstar.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers acquired Davis from New Orleans, in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round draft pick.
Apparently, Davis and his agent informed the Pelicans that he wouldn’t be extending his contract back in January and at that time they requested a trade.
After hearing that his son would no longer be playing for the Lakers, LaVar Ball wasted no time letting everyone know it was the “worst move” the team could make.
“I guarantee: Like I say again, it will be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they will never win another championship,” LaVar Ball told ESPN.
While there are many that agree with Ball and consider the trade to be the loss of three young stars on the roster, LeBron James, believes that it’s “just the beginning” for him and his future teammate, Anthony Davis.
James shared his excitement on Instagram, with a photo of the two in purple and gold.
“Ad on da way,” he wrote. “Let’s get it bro! Just the beginning #LakeShow.”
Davis will be joining James in rebuilding a team that hasn’t made it to the playoffs in six straight seasons. With two of the best forwards in the league, the Lakers are expected to be a force to be reckoned with.
According to Bleacher Report, the deal will be completed by July 6.
