After suffering a near-fatal overdose back in 2015, Lamar Odom vowed to tackle substance abuse issues. Now, the former NBA star is raising money to help a treatment facility that has fallen on hard times.
TMZ Sports reports that Odom created the Odom Wellness Treatment Centers (OWTC) to make good on his promise to fight back against substance abuse.
He recently met with Huntington Beach’s Wavelength’s Recovery in April and partnered with the family-owned business. To kick off the fundraising, the former hoopster created a GoFundMe.
“OWTC is raising funds to help WaveLengths Recovery and other treatment centers in California stay open,” the fundraiser reads.
Odom hopes to raise money toward “employment, adding beds, supplies and updating the treatment centers and most importantly keeping them open.”
The two-time NBA champ has previously invested in treatment facilities in San Diego, El Cajon, and Lemon Grove.
