It’s been a few days since the first round of the NFL Draft, and people are still trying to figure out who was responsible for hacking 13th draft pick Laremy Tunsil’s social media accounts.
On Thursday night, right before the draft began, a video was posted on Tunsil’s Twitter account which showed him smoking weed out of a gas mask bong. Despite the fall in his draft stock due to the video, the Dolphins still took the offensive tackle from Ole Miss in the first round. However, shortly, after getting picked, Tunsil’s Instagram account was next to fall victim to hacking. Screenshots were posted on IG evidencing that money had been exchanged between Tunsil and Ole Miss’ assistant athletic director during his time there.
Many fingers immediately pointed to Tunsil’s stepdad, Lindsey Miller. Tunsil and Miller have had many issues in the past, and Miller is currently suing Tunsil for assault. However, despite the bad blood between these two, Miller says he didn’t have anything to do with what happened on Thursday. “I don’t know nothing about no video,” he told TMZ Sports. “I’m not even watching the draft.” He also told them, “I was a Red Cross volunteer of the year. I would never do anything like this.”
The Dolphins, who have done a little digging of their own, can back up Tunsil’s stepfather. In fact, they think the person behind the hacking could possibly be Tunsil’s ex-financial adviser. The adviser, whose name has yet to be disclosed, was fired by Tunsil shortly before the draft and could potentially have had access to his accounts.
An attorney for Tunsil says that his client plans on pressing federal charges once the culprit is discovered.
