A woman in Las Vegas is being charged with open murder after killing her two daughters.
According to The Review-Journal, when Jaykwon Singleton arrived home, he found Amanda Sharp-Jefferson, 26, with their dead daughters – Rose, 1 and Lily ,2 months – who were on top of each other in a swing.
The report says that Sharp-Jefferson “kept shushing him and at one point made a statement that their organs would be worth a lot of money.”
Singleton said that he’d been with Sharp-Jefferson since 2018 and never had any problems with her until recently when she started talking about the ‘altar spirit world,’ according to a police report.
The Review-Journal says that Sharp-Jefferson insisted that she didn’t have any children, didn’t know Singleton and that she was set up.
According to Fox 5 Vegas, Sharp-Jefferson denied being under the influence of drugs or alcohol but said there might have been marijuana present in her apartment.
Attorneys are expected to argue whether the suspect should continue to be held without bail. On Tuesday, Sharp-Jefferson appeared before Justice Karen Bennett-Haron, who set a hearing for Thursday.
Sharp-Jefferson pleaded no contest to misdemeanor destruction of property in 2017. The case was later dismissed.
In Nevada, when a person is charged with open murder by prosecutors, their fate is determined by the judge or jury, who decides what level of homicide the case fits.
