Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia, the Cuban-American powerhouse who co-founded Latinas for Trump, is breaking her silence—and her loyalty. After years of standing firm behind Donald Trump, Garcia is now calling out the administration’s latest immigration crackdown, calling it “unacceptable and inhumane.”
“This is not what we voted for,” Garcia said in a bold public statement. “I have always supported Trump, through thick and thin. However, this is unacceptable and inhumane.”
Her comments come as Trump’s aggressive immigration agenda ramps up in South Florida. Under new pressure from senior advisor Stephen Miller, federal agents have been sweeping into Miami courthouses, detaining immigrants—even those showing up for scheduled hearings—and placing them in fast-tracked deportation proceedings. These actions have sparked fear in immigrant-heavy communities that largely supported Trump, including Cubans and Venezuelans.
Garcia, known for her deep conservative values and support for law enforcement, drew the line at what she sees as “arbitrary” arrests of immigrants trying to follow legal procedures.
“I understand the importance of deporting criminal aliens,” she said, “but what we’re witnessing are measures that feel more like a manhunt than a policy.”
In her statement, she called out Stephen Miller, the controversial force behind much of Trump’s immigration agenda. Taking it personal, she said her own parents, who fled Cuba for freedom, are “more American than Miller.”
Garcia now finds herself in a rare political lane—standing up for immigrants while staying conservative. She’s not backing down, insisting on “real solutions” and fairness in how America treats people chasing safety and stability.
Next week, Miami’s Republican delegation is set to meet with Trump’s Homeland Security secretary to press for answers—and Garcia will be watching closely.
