Latto has found herself back in the headlines once again, but this time, she is making amends for her latest track. The Atlanta rapper recently released her third album, ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea,’ which featured a song titled “Brokey.” To summarize the track, “Brokey” highlighted the lack of funds in some individuals. However, the song wasn’t received too well by some listeners, who accused Latto of being dismissive of people with regular jobs due to the lyrics stating, “When a real one hold you down, bae, you supposed to drown/You ain’t never f*ck with no boss b*tch, I turned you out/You won’t catch me in no shark boots, y’all burnt ’em out/B*tches gotta wait ’til they/ birthday to go out of town/ Brokey.”
I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys 💔 so I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video…no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey so I can see them all

Despite fans believing Latto was downplaying everyday jobs while flaunting luxury, she quickly clarified her lyrics and explained that she was not undermining the work ethic of hardworking people. In fact, to prove she didn’t mean no harm with her verse, Latto took to her X (formerly known as Twitter) account to announce her “Brokey” challenge. The contest consists of individuals creating videos that showcase their daily work routines while the song plays in the background. Fans can win $10,000 if their video is selected as the most creative and featured in the track’s upcoming music video.
“I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys,” she tweeted. “So I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video…no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey, so I can see them all.”
Since the challenge was announced, social media users haven’t wasted any time adding their videos with the hashtag #Brokey, which has quickly taken off. Nonetheless, the videos have poured in with fans showcasing their jobs, from bartending to customer service reps. Check out some of the creative and entertaining videos below:
