Lauryn Hill has finally addressed her excessive tardiness.
The singer recently graced the stage during the Ms. Lauryn Hill & Fugees: Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th Anniversary Tour on Saturday night in Los Angeles. At one point during the performance, Lauryn addressed her habitual tardiness at her concerts.
“People say that she’s late,” Lauryn began. “She’s late so what? Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this stage every night!”
Additionally, Lauryn also took the opportunity to reveal that she no one asked her to make a follow up album after “The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill” and why she chooses to constantly promote the album.
“God is the one who allows me to do,” she added. “Who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support. When the album sold so many records and no one showed up and said ‘hey, would you like to make another?’ So I went around the world and I played the same album over and over and over and over again.”
Just a week ago, Lauryn postponed her Forth Worth show due to a vocal injury. Lauryn shared the news with her fans via Twitter saying, “As you may know, I’ve been doing my best to overcome a serious case of vocal strain/injury over the past week or so.”
She added, “I fought through the last couple shows, pushing my voice, and masking the injury with medication. This isn’t safe or sustainable. I woke up this morning hoping to have enough voice to get through tonight, but I can barely talk let alone sing or rap.”
Additionally, she also postponed her Philadelphia show for the same reason, mentioning that her doctor advised her to take a break to rest her vocals.
