LaVar Ball called the Detroit Pistons “raggedly as hell” for cutting his son LiAngelo Ball.

LiAngelo signed a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with the team in early December, and now the baller has been cut. During an interview with the Bleacher Report AMA on Monday, LaVar expressed his feelings about the team’s decision.

“I definitely have thoughts on that. The people in Detroit are great. I love the fans, but the franchise over there is raggedy as hell. They don’t know a good player. I was giving them a lottery pick for free! Has the skills to play and the notoriety to bring everybody to the game. How do you throw that out the window? They’re gonna learn the hard way. My boys are gonna end up together playing somewhere. ‘Gelo can shoot the lights out. That was raggedy what they did. But hey, they’re gonna learn the hard way.”

LiAngelo didn’t play in the Piston’s first two preseason games; Bleacher Report reports that the 22-year-old was healing from a right ankle injury. The player had ankle surgery last year. He later joined the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue as a practice player last December and signed a contract with the club in March. When Covid-19 struck the country, that stopped LiAngelo from participating in any of the remaining season games.

LiAngelo and his brother LaMelo Ball played alongside one another in the 2017-18 season, with Prenai in the Lithuanian Basketball League. The outlet reports that he wasn’t picked up for the 2018 NBA draft.

This may not be all bad news. LiAngelo could still come back if he lands another G League deal. But that’s only if the G League starts back up for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
