Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball and LeBron James “are going to fit together like a glove,” according to LaVar Ball.
During a video interview with Overtime, Ball’s outspoken father shared his thoughts on LeBron’s recent decision to bring his talents to L.A.’s historic franchise. For LaVar, pairing LeBron and his son on the same team is a win-win situation.
“Lonzo makes everybody better, including him [LeBron],” he told the sports media outlet. “[And] he’s going to make Lonzo better because he’s the best player. Lonzo’s gonna orchestrate it, and [LeBron’s] gonna be fine with that as long as it results in winning.”
Following James’ July 1 announcement to leave Cleveland, the Lakers signed veteran point guard Rajon Rondo. The team’s latest acquisition has some fans questioning if Ball’s starting position is secured now that Rondo’s in town?
“It don’t mean nothing. It just means he got another teammate. That’s all,” LaVar told CNN correspondent, Chris Coumo in response to Rondo joining the team. “A little backup, that’s good…I never worry about competition, because I know my boys are better than that.”
LaVar later went on to add, “LeBron signed for four years, so guess what? We gotta win four championships. But if we don’t win four championships, we should at least get two.”
How many championships will the Lakers win with LeBron James?
