Lawsuit Claims NY Hospital Grilled Surgeon About Her Sex Life After She Removed “Foreign Object” From Patient’s Anus

A new lawsuit claims a NY hospital subjected a female surgeon to a bizarre interrogation about her sex life and accused her of violating a patient’s privacy after removing a “large foreign object” from a man’s rectum.

According to a lawsuit filed by colorectal surgeon Dr. Deborah Keller, Doctors at New York-Presbyterian Hospital struggled to help the man during the February 2020 incident.

Keller was called in multiple times to assist and finally helped successfully remove the unidentified item from the patient’s anus.

The next day after the successful surgery, Dr. Keller claims she was put on administrative leave and was later “interrogated” by hospital administrators, who “sexualized” the object as a “dildo”; questioned whether Keller was having sex with the male surgeon in charge of the patient’s care, and accusing her of violated the man’s privacy by circulating an image of the object.

Dr. Keller claims the questioning by the hospital’s internal hearing committee was “demeaning and embarrassing.”

She also refused to discuss or describe the extracted object and claims doctors “don’t really know” what the “massive” missile-shaped item was, but she alleges they continued to reference the item in inappropriate terms.

“They kept using inappropriate terms for the foreign [object], it was just getting contentious and questions that just didn’t have anything to do with the practice of medicine or patient care or colorectal surgery, making what I do seem like a joke,” Dr. Kelley said in her Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit.
