Donald Trump handed out dozens of pardons before he left office earlier this week, but none of his loyal supporters who participated in the violent mob attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th were lucky enough to receive the honor.
According to Raw Story, the lawyer for the now-infamous “QAnon Shaman,” Jacob Chansley, says his client feels like Donald Trump misled him into believing he would receive a pardon for taking part in the riots at the Capitol.
Al Watkins, the attorney for Chansley, said the 33-year-old shaman now regrets his actions and feels “duped” by Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
“He regrets very, very much having not just been duped by the President, but by being in a position where he allowed that duping to put him in a position to make decisions he should not have made,” Watkins told local news station, KSDK.
Watkins explained that the mountain of false claims made by Trump as President ever since the November election is proof his client sincerely believed he helped fight injustice.
“Let’s roll the tape,” Watkins said. “Let’s roll the months of lies, and misrepresentations, and horrific innuendo and hyperbolic speech by our president designed to inflame, enrage, motivate. What’s really curious is the reality that our president, as a matter of public record, invited these individuals, as President, to walk down to the Capitol with him,” Watkins told KSDK.
Watkins said his client is now very remorseful and feels duped.
“He regrets very, very much having…just been duped by the president,” said Al Watkins said.
