Syrian officials have reported that at least six servicemen and nine civilians, four reportedly children, have died as a result of last night’s military strike from the United States.
All but one of the missiles launched on Thursday night hit the intended Shayrat Airfield in Homs. The missiles were launched from the USS Ross and the USS Porter in the Mediterranean Sea.
“Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women, and children,” Trump said from Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. “It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.”
Russia, who backs the Assad regime, has also responded. According to a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, only 23 of the 59 missiles hit their intended target. Russia called the attack “aggression against a sovereign state in violation of international law.” According to FOX News’ Chief Political Anchor, Bret Baier, a Russian warship has reportedly entered the eastern Mediterranean Sea, heading toward the US Navy destroyers that launched the airstrikes last night.
According to Syria’s military, last night’s attack from the United States violated “all international laws and customs” and made America a “partner” of ISIS “and other terrorist organizations.”
