Just hours after LeBron James and his son, Bronny, made NBA history as the first father-son duo to play together on the same court, the two stars were hit with unexpected legal trouble. LeBron and Bronny are now facing a lawsuit following a car accident on November 13, 2022, involving two women, Kiara McGillen and April Almanza Lopez, near Pearblossom Highway in Littlerock, California.
According to the lawsuit, McGillen and Lopez claim they suffered both financial and physical losses from the accident with the James family. They allege that medical expenses and vehicle repairs came out of their own pockets, and they also had to take time off work due to their injuries. In addition to the medical and work-related setbacks, McGillen and Lopez say their car was so heavily damaged that it became unusable after the crash.
The lawsuit, filed shortly after LeBron and Bronny’s historic game, is seeking compensation for these alleged losses. With both physical injuries and significant damage to their vehicle, the plaintiffs are demanding millions from the NBA legends.
The accident took place only hours before LeBron and Bronny shared their monumental on-court moment. During the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron expressed his pride in checking into the game alongside his son.
“That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together is something I will never forget,” LeBron said in the post-game conference. “No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade, I will never forget that moment.” LeBron went on to say the entire day felt perfect, filled with meaningful family moments before stepping onto the court.
