LeBron James reached the milestone of 40,000 career points in the recent home match between his Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
James, who claimed the title for the most career points in the professional basketball league last year, was just 9 points away from the milestone before the game began. In the second quarter, a layup propelled James to the 40,000-point mark, with another layup securing his surpassing of this achievement.
As soon as James hit this historic number, Los Angeles fans erupted with excitement, leaping to their feet. During a later timeout, a brief ceremony took place, accompanied by a video showcasing some of James’ remarkable accomplishments titled “LeBron James ‘Scoring King’ Career Mixtape.'”

Additionally, James reflected on the significance of the moment as he glanced towards his 9-year-old daughter, Zhuri. He described it as a “special” moment, particularly when he realized he had made history with the first layup.
“My daughter was just clapping, and you know like pumping her arms up in the air,” James said. “So that was a super cool moment. Blew her a kiss, she blew one back to me.”
Despite James finishing the game with 26 points, the glow of the night proved fleeting as the Lakers succumbed to a 114-124 defeat. The defending champions seized control with a 9-point run late in the fourth quarter.
