A loyal Los Angeles Lakers fan is taking his love for the game straight to court after claiming LeBron James tricked him with a viral teaser video. Andrew Garcia says “The Second Decision” led him to believe the NBA superstar was announcing his retirement, not promoting a brand partnership.
According to TMZ Sports, Garcia filed a lawsuit accusing James of misleading fans with the dramatic teaser. Once the video dropped, ticket prices for the Lakers’ final home game of the 2025–26 season skyrocketed. TickPick reported that seats that were just $85 jumped to over $400 after the video went live.
Garcia admits he spent $865.66 on two tickets for the Lakers vs. Cavaliers game, thinking it would mark LeBron’s final matchup against his former team. When it turned out the video was actually an advertisement for Hennessy, Garcia decided he wanted his money back.
While the amount in question might be pocket change for LeBron, who became the first active NBA billionaire in 2022, the fan hopes the court will see things his way. Whether this lawsuit holds up or not, it’s a reminder that not every “decision” from LeBron is about basketball.
