LeBron James may be gearing up for the next phase of his career.
As the Los Angeles Lakers superstar gears up for his 22nd season, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. However, James is pondering what lies ahead when he finally retires. During a recent appearance on the “GoJo & Golic” podcast, James teased the idea of joining the broadcast booth once he hangs up his jersey.
“You know, I don’t know. I definitely love the sport. It would be great. I see Tom Brady doing it, and he’s been great so far. And, you know, we will see, even if it’s just a guest appearance, you know, one game or two when I’m done playing. But it’s always fun to give back to the game because the game has given me so much. So, if it’s basketball, if it’s football, if it’s whatever, I love the word ‘sport’ because it’s given so much to me and my family. And it’s only right that I give back to it,” he explained to hosts Mike Golic Sr. and Mike Golic Jr.
James’ comments naturally draw comparisons to Brady, who stepped into a high-profile broadcasting role after his football career. While Brady is still finding his footing, his relentless work ethic and unwavering determination are qualities the 39-year-old LeBron James embodies in abundance.
The basketball great could become a broadcasting powerhouse with his vast knowledge of the game, natural charisma, and ability to connect with fans. Joining the ranks of former athletes-turned-broadcasters like Tony Romo, JJ Redick, Reggie Miller, and Mark Jackson, James would undoubtedly be a sought-after talent, and his impact could be game-changing. He already hosts a popular podcast, “The Shop,” where he interviews everyone from musicians to athletes. Therefore, commentating on sports would likely be an easy transition for this NBA champion.
