LeBron James is currently in Cleveland for the All-Star Game, and he didn’t rule out a return to the city while speaking with The Athletic over the weekend.
“The door’s not closed on that,” the NBA star said. “I’m not saying I’m coming back and playing, I don’t know. I don’t know what my future holds. I don’t even know when I’m free.”
James, 37, spent his first seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He famously left to join the Miami Heat, only to return to the Cavs in 2016. He promptly led them to their first championship win.
James still has one more season left with the Los Angeles Lakers before becoming a free agent. And while he doesn’t know exactly where he will end up after that, but he knows one thing is for sure: he intends to play his last season with his son.
“My last year will be played with my son,” he told the outlet. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
James will be 39 when Bronny is eligible for the NBA draft in 2024. The high school point guard is ranked number 43 in ESPN’s 2023 class of 60. He earned a four-star rating.
