LeBron James & Sony Team Up for PlayStation 5 Collab

LeBron James has a custom PlayStation 5 on the way that’ll include positive affirmations on the console and controller.

The partnership allows James to add his personal touch to the popular gaming system. PlayStation’s black console features multiple colors of James’ etched crown logo with the slogans, “Nothing Is Given, Everything is Earned” and “Chosen Ones,” representing his dedication to the game of basketball and the gaming communities’ love of their craft. Ultimately, James also wants the collaboration to be an ode to the students of his I Promise School in Akron, Ohio.

“Designing a console cover and controller with PlayStation that gives a nod to my I Promise students and where we come from is a pretty cool thing,” James shared in a press release.

The black custom DualSense wireless controller incorporates the same crowns and phrases from the console. However, the words “Build, Uplift, Empower” are added to the handle.

Sony tapping James for this PS5 is a part of their Playmakers initiative. The program, launched last month, teams up with “cultural influencers” for limited-edition products and partnerships focusing on “their creativity and passion for gaming.” WNBA rookie NaLyssa Smith of the Indiana Fever, Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase and professional BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester are among the designated Playmakers. Their exact involvement has yet to be announced, though Sony promises engagement opportunities for fans across the globe.

PS5 hopes can pre-order the LeBron James x PS5 accessories later this year at direct.playstation.com.
