TBS has reportedly ordered a pilot for a comedy series created by “The Chi” creator, Lena Waithe.
Waithe originally wrote the series titled “Twenties” back in 2009, about a queer Black girl and her hetero friends.
“I always wanted to tell a story where a queer Black woman was the protagonist and I’m so grateful to TBS for giving me a platform to tell this story,” Waithe said according to TVline.com. “Queer black characters have been the sidekick for long enough, it’s time for us to finally take the lead.”

In September, Waithe was the first Black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Since receiving such a groundbreaking award, her hit show “The Chi” has received amazing reviews and has also been renewed for a second season.
