Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, announced some questionable allegations against A-List actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

According to Fox News, Bolsonaro is blaming DiCaprio for the forest fires in the Amazon. He reportedly claims that the actor donated to nonprofit organizations that are behind the forest fires.

The president told supporters this Friday, “DiCaprio is a cool guy, isn’t he? Giving money to set the Amazon on fire.”

DiCaprio donated $5 million for the aid to protect the Amazon after the fires destroyed a large quantity of the rainforest in July and August.

The president’s comments were taken very seriously by the authorities and was followed up with a raid of two nonprofit organizations located in the Amazonian state of Para.

Many volunteer firefighters were arrested and later released after being accused of wrongdoings. They were accused of setting the fires purposely to collect funding from nonprofits.

Federal prosecutors are reportedly investigating local land-grabbers as primary suspects.

Scientists and critics of the president believe that his government policy of the encouragement of deforestation has given people the inclination to burn the forest.
