One thing about LeToya Luckett, she’s going to keep her a man!
Over the weekend, the singer tied the knot to her boo Taleo Coles in a private ceremony at Le Tesserae located in Houston, Texas. The full guest list remains under wraps but photos show that Tina Knowles, Tammy Franklin, Bun B, Toya Wright-Rushing, and LaTavia Roberson were in attendance for the festivities. Pastor Devon Franklin officiated the ceremony with actress Hailey Kilgore singing as she walked down the aisle.
LeToya and Taleo’s love story stems back to 2022 with the help of a mutual friend, Alexis White, who made the connection. White says that Taleo was brought up in the middle of a conversation and LeToya asked to see a photo of him.
“We were on a girl’s trip to Sedona, it’s one of her favorite places to go. We were there in the sauna room, and we’re having a conversation, and she said, ‘Well let me just see what he looks like,’” White said.
However, once LeToya saw how Taleo looked, she quickly told her friend, “‘So this has been your friend all this time, he looks like this, he has all these great qualities.’”
Despite LeToya taking a step back from dating after her divorce from Tommicus Walker, the singer decided to give the love thing another try. This prompted White to set up a three-way call with LeToya and Taleo, which kicked off their romance.
Their wedding ceremony was set up very elegantly but of course, you can take the Houston out of LeToya, who told Essence Magazine that she would’ve incorporated the city’s culture into the event but chose not to out of respect for Taleo.
“If it was up to me, I would’ve had a full southside wedding. I would’ve had swangas outside and everything,” she said. “However, Taleo is the baby in his family, and I wanted to make sure that he was able to enjoy the moment as well.”
Nevertheless, the Houston spirit still shined throughout the ceremony with Taleo walking down the aisle to Z-Ro’s “Mo City Don” record, the newlyweds sharing their first kiss while Outkast and UGK’s “International Players Anthem” played in the background, and rapper Lil KeKe performing “Southside” at the reception.
